Public Service & Conflict of Interest Disclosure

Alvaro Castillo currently serves as a member of the City of Long Beach Planning Commission, a public advisory body that reviews land use applications, zoning changes, and development projects within the City of Long Beach. This public service appointment is entirely separate and independent from his private real estate practice conducted through Castillo Realty.

In compliance with California's Political Reform Act (Government Code § 87100 et seq.) and applicable City of Long Beach ethics policies, the following practices are strictly observed:

• No Dual Representation: Alvaro Castillo does not represent buyers, sellers, or investors in any real estate matter that is pending before or under review by the Long Beach Planning Commission.
• Mandatory Recusal: He recuses himself from any Commission proceedings, votes, or deliberations involving properties, applicants, or parties with whom he has a current or prospective private business relationship.
• No Undue Influence: His Planning Commission role is not used to advance, expedite, or otherwise influence the outcome of any private real estate transaction, permit application, or development review on behalf of clients or himself.
• No Confidential Information: Non-public information obtained through his role as a Planning Commissioner is not used for private business purposes, including investment decisions or client advisory services.

The knowledge shared with clients regarding land use, zoning, and development processes is based on Alvaro Castillo's general professional expertise, publicly available municipal codes, and information that is accessible to any member of the public — not on non-public Commission deliberations or privileged government information.

Prospective clients with matters that may come before the Long Beach Planning Commission are advised to disclose this at the outset of any engagement so that appropriate measures can be taken.
